IMAX is a motion picture film format and a set of cinema projection standards created by Canada’s IMAX Corporation. It has the capacity to record and display images of far greater size and resolution than conventional film systems, allowing cinema viewers to feel like they are part of the movie they watch as their eyes and ears are all roused thanks to large images along with the high-advanced sound system.
IMAX’s giant screen cinemas will enter Vietnam following a deal between IMAX Corporation and CJ CGV.
The 10th cinema complex of CGV is located on the fifth floor of SC VivoCity Tower at 1058 Nguyen Van Linh Boulevard, District 7.
It will has seven IMAX studios with 311 seats, one Premium studio with wide space and armchairs, and one studio for showing 4DX movies, which are augmented with environmental effects such as seat motion, wind, rain, fog, lighting, and aroma along with the standard video and audio thanks to a motion picture technology owned and developed CJ 4DPLEX, a subsidiary of CJ Group.
The remaining studios have sweatbox chairs to leave private spaces for couples.
After CGV VivoCity, CJ CGV will open its second IMAX cinema complex in Hanoi, but the firm has yet to reveal details about the plan.
The company also said it will join forces with IMAX to open 97 IMAX cinemas in Asia, with two in Vietnam, 20 in South Korea and 75 in China.
The movie “The Avengers: Age Ultron,” the blockbuster this summer, will be screened at CGV VivoCity from April 24.
