On the morning of 11 March, Chairman of Haiphong People’s Committee Le Van Thanh received and worked with the Ambassador of Finland to Vietnam H.E Mr. Kimmo Lähdevirta and Finnish journalist delegation about cooperation opportunities between Haiphong and Finland. Leaders of the relevant departments also attended the working session. Chairman Le Van Thanh thanked the Government of Finland for its attention to Haiphong and introduced some brief information about Haiphong city – the center of the Northern Coastal Region and the largest growth pole of the North with full advantages of traffic conditions including a number of ongoing projects: Hanoi – Haiphong Highway, Cat Bi International Airport; a sea port with cargo throughput of 65 million tones in 2014 and the construction of a 100 thousand-ton deep-water port, etc. Haiphong has great potentials of development in recent years, promising to become a health and education center of the country. Therefore, city leaders hoped foreign countries as well as Finland to make further investment in Haiphong to match its potentials and 42-year traditional relations between the two countries. At the working session, Mr. Chairman also received and answered some questions raised by foreign journalists about the shipbuilding industry of Haiphong, the economic growth rate, investment opportunities and efficiency of Finland, hurdles in administrative procedures …Mr Chairman asserted that Haiphong is a potential market to foreign businesses. The city leaders always desire to lure special attention of foreign investors and pledge to take drastic measures in administrative reform as well as strengthen incentive policies for foreign businesses in Haiphong. |
