They plan to infuse millions in additional rural transport, waste treatment, education and health care projects said Japan’s Vice Consul General to HCM City Yoshinori Yakabe on March 20 at a Can Tho City People’s Committee meeting.
The new businesses will enhance the quality of life for the citizens of Can Tho both in terms of the services they provide and higher earnings for employees, said Dao Anh Dung, vice-chairman of the committee.
One of the projects the city is excited about involves upgrading existing water treatment plants and some new facilities utilising the latest of microbiological technologies, said Dung.
These projects will be carried out by Japanese investors pursuant to a cooperation agreement with Can Tho University.
In addition, this year the city will establish sister relations with Chiba prefecture to advance cooperation in hi-tech agriculture.
