Over the past years, Green Environment Production and Trade Services Co., Ltd. (GECO Company for short) has actively invested in technology and machinery to recycle waste into useful products.
Founded in 2004 in Nam Sach industrial park (Hai Duong city), GECO has so far become a strong northern enterprise specializing in collecting, transporting, storing, and treating industrial, hazardous, medical waste, etc.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Lap, Director of GECO Company, said recycling is the most effective and environmentally friendly treatment method. Therefore, GECO ceaselessly studies to put forth plans for handling, recycling, and thoroughly recovering recyclable waste. The recycled products recovered from waste and scrap treatment process by GECO Company help customers not only heighten environmental indices but also save more than 50% of costs compared to the use of new products.
According to GECO Company’s engineers, mechanical sorting is the initial stage indispensable in waste treatment process. This method increases the efficiency of recycling and processing in the next stages. Thus, GECO’s employees going to receive waste are regularly trained and retrained in professional knowledge. Transport, equipment, protective gear, etc. are constantly maintained for safe collection and transport of industrial waste, especially hazardous one.
Upon customers’ requests, GECO’s employees and transport come for reception, status checking, packing, storage labeling, and waste transport as prescribed. After being conveyed to the factory, waste is checked and unloaded in accordance with a strict storage process.
Depending on its composition, properties, and characteristics, waste is stored in different devices for safe transport and avoidance of spillage and leakage. Dusters, wrapping, gloves covered with oil, chemicals, solvents, or powdery waste, discarded electronic circuit boards, etc. are contained in PE bags, boxes, or cloth bags. Lubricants, solvents, and chemicals are stored in plastic or iron containers. Wastewater and liquid waste mud are contained in tanks and transported by tankers.
Depending on waste’s characteristics, the company has appropriate treatment plans ensuring minimum harm of it to the environment. For example, electronic waste is recycled into copper and zinc sulphate products, etc. for sale on the market. Paper, plastic, wood, and metal waste is classified, cleaned if covered with lubricants or chemicals, and sold to recycling specializing units.
GECO Company destroys waste with two-level static incinerators using Japanese technology. This is a waste oxidation process at high temperatures (over 1,000°C). Harmful emissions are completely absorbed by atomized lye; part of ash is used as an additive for cement production and the rest for adobe brick production. Liquid waste is treated with a closed chemical – physical technological line.
The company annually spends 5 – 10% of total revenue on investment in additional technical infrastructure.
GECO Company in 2008 stably maintained incinerator 1 with a capacity of 200kg/ hour, 1,800m2 of workshops for hazardous waste classification, and 350m3 of recirculation tanks.
From 2009 to 2011, the company invested in two more incinerators, one with a capacity of 1,000kg of waste/ hour and the other with a capacity of 1,300kg of waste/ hour, and built new workshops for hazardous waste classification and recycling on more than 4,000m2 with a total investment of over VND70 billion. These are two modern incinerators able to treat even waste of halogen origin.
The company also has more than 20 closed box trucks specialized in collecting and transporting hazardous waste from many businesses and units in the North.
The enterprise has also jointly applied US technology on recycling and recovery of precious metals.
To date, the company has signed long-term contracts with over 200 enterprises in the province and the region, such as Sumidenso Vietnam, Samsung Vina, Toyota Vietnam, Panasonic Vietnam, etc.
The company monthly collects, transports, and treats more than 1,600 tons of industrial waste and provides stable jobs for 179 laborers with an average income of about VND5 million/ person.
