The Standard Chartered Trophy is a five-a-side tournament organised annually since 2012 by Standard Chartered Bank, the main sponsor of English Premier League LFC, in the countries where the bank operates.

More than 80 teams from the bank’s clients, media partners and staff, and other organizations have signed up for the competition in Hanoi and HCMC. The country’s finals will take place at Hoa Lu Stadium on Dinh Tien Hoang Street, District 1, HCMC on March 15. These matches are free.

The Standard Chartered Bank will be auctioning a jersey of striker Philippe Coutinho to raise funds for Seeing is Believing (SiB), the bank’s global initiative to tackle avoidable blindness. There will be a CEO exhibition match with a celebrity team immediately before the finals.

Vietnam’s champions will take part in the global finals at Anfield Stadium, Liverpool on May 8. The prize includes a dinner with LFC legends and a chance to receive a professional training session with LFC legends and Academy coaches in preparation of the finals.

Last year was the first time Vietnam was called up for the global finals, and Vietnam’s champions Hoa Binh Construction & Real Estate Corporation brought home the trophy.

Nirukt Sapru, chief executive officer of Standard Chartered Bank Vietnam, said in a statement that with Vietnam winning last year’s title, there is clearly a lot of excitement for this year’s tournament.

Sapru said the bank continues to support amateur football talent and provide football fans with a ‘money can’t buy’ opportunity to play on a Premier League pitch.

“As a bank that is deeply committed to Vietnam, which is passionate about football and the English Premier League in particular, we are proud to be able to leverage our relationship with Liverpool as their official sponsor to give Vietnamese footballers a great opportunity to play on the hallowed turf of Anfield,” Sapru said.
