On March 5th, Venezuela marked the second anniversary of late President and leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chavez, at the Bolivar square in the capital Caracas.

Chavez held the presidential office from 1999 until his death on March 5th, 2013, after a long battle with cancer. His successor, President Nicolas Maduro, has vowed to deepen Venezuela’s socialist revolution.


At the event, the incumbent Venezuelan President, Nicolas Maduro confirmed Hugo Chavez realized the dreams of the meritorious liberator, Simons Bolivar, and opened a new path to a world of equality, unity, and civilization.


Maduro and Chavez’s tearful daughters and other mourners, gathered later in the day at his tomb in a former military barracks perched atop a hillside slum. Followers have covered walls all across the country with colorful murals depicting the charismatic leader who is credited with lifting thousands out of poverty.


The late president transformed Venezuela through his courageous struggle to help the people become protagonists of their own destiny.


Apart from his dedication to politics, Chavez contributed greatly to helping the children, the old, sick, and poor people./.
