The Asia Book of Records has recognized a 41-year-old Vietnamese as the physician who has treated the highest number of international patients with Vietnam traditional medicine.

Phung Tuan Giang of Hanoi-based Tho Xuan Duong clinic has offered treatment to more than 150,000 patients from 102 countries.

Earlier, the Vietnam Records Book Center had recognized the clinic, which practices traditional medicine, as the oldest of its kind in the country. It has been run by 16 generations in around 400 years.

The Phungs family reportedly served as royal physicians for three generations in the Later Le Dynasty (1428-1789).

Giang has been known for combining modern technology with traditional methods to improve medicinal properties of herbs and plants.

He has reportedly developed remedies to support treatment of many diseases, including asthma, Scleroderma (systemic sclerosis), epilepsy and cancer.
