On March 30th, the opening ceremony of the 52nd annual children’s book fair opened in Bologna in Italy.

The exhibition gives everyone the chance to discover the latest market trends in the book industry, to meet the most important illustrators and authors and see the winners of the most prestigious international awards.


The event is expected to attract more than 50,000 visitors, 1,200 exhibitors from 75 countries and 25,000 international professional trade representatives.


Each year, the fair proposes to all exhibitors and visitors alike, special initiatives that offer excellent opportunities to increase contacts and hone ones’ skills in various sectors of the children’s copyright market.


In the framework of the 52nd Bologna Children’s Book Fair, Bologna Fiere and AIE – Italian Publishers’ Association will organize the 3rd BOP – Bologna Prize for the Best Children’s Publishers of the year.


The prize has been instituted to pay tribute to publishers at the forefront of innovation in their activity for the creative nature of the editorial choices they have made during the previous year’s edition of the fair.


The Bologna Children’s Book Fair is the world’s leading professional fair for children’s books.


Since 1963, it has been held annually over four days in March or April in Bologna, Italy. It is the meeting place for all professionals involved with creating and publishing children’s books, and is mainly used for the buying and selling of rights, both for translations and for spin-off products like movies or animated television series.
