Conference highlights Regional Command Base’s contributions

PANO – The Military Zone 7 Command and Binh Phuoc provincial People’s Committee on April 10th organised a conference highlighting the role, significance and historical values of the Command Base of the Liberation Army of South Vietnam in Ta Thiet (from 1972 to 1975) in the anti-American war for national salvation, in the province.


Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Cung, Deputy Minister of National Defence, attended the conference.

Opening the conference, Secretary of Binh Phuoc provincial Party Committee Nguyen Tan Hung laid stress on the importance of the command base (also called Regional Command Base) in the anti- American War. It was a place where the Ho Chi Minh Campaign was launched, the Ho Chi Minh Campaign Command was founded with Senior Lieutenant General Van Tien Dung as General Commander, and the 1975 Spring Offensive, a decisive battle to end the war against the war, was kicked off.


The Deputy Defence Minister said that the base, a strategic organ, kept track of the enemy situation, predicted their schemes and steps to prepare plans to deal with them, as well as launched surprising attacks to defeat the enemy.


Also at the event, the participants put forward measures to preserve and promote historical values of the Ta Thiet historical Relic to educate younger generations.
