Nearly 2 million presents given to poor families and AO victims during Tet

The movement “Tet for the poor and Agent Orange victims” during the 2015 lunar New Year (Tet) distributed nearly 2 million presents with a value of over VND719 billion for the poor and victims of AO, according to the Vietnam Red Cross (VRC).

Accordingly, presents worth VND636 billion were given to nearly 2 million poor people and AO victims. Together with it, 559 houses, 464 cows, 211 savings books were distributed to these people while 160,966 others received healthcare worth over VND83 billion.


The movement launched by the VRC since 1999 has mobilised over VND3 trillion from organizations, enterprises and individuals to assist the lives of nearly 14 million poor families and AO victims. So far, the movement has been carried out on a large scale, become a traditional activity of the VRC and received praise from the Party, State and all classes of people.


During the 2015 Tet, the VRC set records in the number of presents given to poor families and AO victims, which will be honoured during a ceremony to review the movement expected to be held on April 14th./.
