Ha Noi to raise retail electricity prices from early July

The Hanoitimes – A senior executive of Ha Noi Vietnam Electricity Group (Hanoi EVN) revealed o­n Tuesday that Ha Noi may increase retail electricity prices by 5% from July 1 to compensate electricity production costs.


According to Vu Quang Hung, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, the Ministry of Industry and Trade unveiled the draft o­n electricity price hikes, stating that retail electricity prices of 220 kV to 110 kV voltage would be raised by 2-7% and the electricity prices for steel, iron, cement production would be 2-16% higher than prices of other manufacturing sectors.


The draft stipulates that electricity prices for civil consumption from 1-100 kwh would be 100% of the average price while that for 101-200 kwh would be 108% of the average price (currently, 106% of average price for using from 101-106 kwh and 134% of average price for using from 151-200 kwh), 138% from 201-300 kwh (currently 145%) and 154% from 301-400 kwh (currently 155%). From 401kwh up, the price would be 165% of average price (current price of 159%).


The latest electricity price hike was o­n Dec 22, 2012 with 5% increase to average retail electricity price of VND1,437/kwh.
