The Hanoitimes – The use of helicopters will add a new service in tourism and also attract high income earners and foreign holidaymakers, so as to better exploit the country’s tourism potential and diversify tourism products to meet a growing demand.

The theory was drawn out at a meeting held last week by the Northern Service Flight Company of Viet Nam Helicopter Corporation under the Ministry of National Defense.

The participants, mainly tourist operators, embassies and owners of five-star hotels, also discussed specific implementation of the service and solutions to the barriers including simplifying flight procedures, designing short-distance flights, expanding the market to the mountainous regions where road transport isn’t readily accessible, and closely coordinating with international airliners and helicopter companies as well as five-star hotels in drawing luxury tourists.

At the meeting, air operators also introduced flights, such as the North Flight Service Company plans to launch 20 flights from Ha Noi to famous tourist destinations like Ha Long Bay, Cat Bi, Cat Ba, Mong Cai, Lao Cai, Dien Bien, Hoa Binh, in the North; Thua Thien-Hue, Vinh, Da Nang in Central Viet Nam and Vung Tau, Con Dao and Can Tho in the South.
