The 2nd Indonesia-Vietnam Trade, Tourism and Investment Forum themed ‘Indonesia-Vietnam: Partnership for Prosperity’ opened in Ho Chi Minh City on June 13.

Nguyen Thi Hong, Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, stressed that the event presents a good development opportunity for strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. The Forum will also provide a chance for both enterprises to seek business opportunities, share experiences and update latest information on trade and investment policies in Vietnam and Indonesia.

Indonesia is Vietnam’s fourth biggest trade partner within ASEAN, representing a stable increase in bilateral trade turnover.

Total export and import turnover of the two sides has increased from US$2.5 billion in 2008 to $4.6 billion in 2012, up 84 percent.

Vietnam has seven projects worth $106.7 million in Indonesia, focusing mainly in mining, oil and gas, and communications.

The event co-organized by the Indonesian Embassy in Hanoi, the Indonesian Consulate General in HCMC, and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry will end on June 14.
