CAN THO (VNS)— The Mekong Delta has additional 20,000 hectares of specialty fruit trees than they did three years ago, according to the Southern Horticultural Research Institute.
Areas under speciality fruit trees in the provinces of Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Dong Thap, Vinh Long, Hau Giang and Can Tho have increased to 83,000ha, accounting for 29 per cent of the total fruit tree area.
The increase indicates the growing demand for safe, high-quality fruit, which is now being produced on a large scale to meet demand and improve export competitiveness. — VNS
