Quang Nam spends US$1.38 mil on expanding museum

The central Quang Nam province’s People’s Committee recently decided to spend over VND28.8 bil (US$1.38 mil) on the construction of the Hoi An museum’s exhibition area.


Of the total investment, 85% comes from the State budget. On the 5,286-m2 area, the museum's exhibition space consists of three floors, which measure roughly 2,700 - 3,000 m2 each, while the outdoor exhibition area measures around 3,000 - 3,800 m2.Of the total investment, 85% comes from the State budget. The space will be devoted to exhibiting artifacts from different periods of Hoi An’s development along with displays on topical and political issues.


The project, expected to complete by 2015, aims to facilitate collection and display of artifacts and archives, promote ancient Hoi An town’s cultural, traditional values to locals and tourists and enhance the community’s awareness of preserving them.


The construction of part of the Hoi An museum, located at 10B Tran Hung Dao st., completed in 2008 not long before the building was put into use.
