2013 Vietnam-Lao Youth Friendly Meeting opens

PANO – The 2013 Vietnam-Lao Youth Friendly Meeting opened on July 16th at the Convention Centre of Tuyen Quang Province.

Addressing the event, Phan Van Mai, Permanent Secretary of the Central Committee of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, stressed that with both sides’ efforts, this annual meeting has become a festive day of Vietnamese and Lao youths, demonstrating their determination to inherit and further promote the special traditional friendship between the two Parties, two States and two peoples.

For his part, Vice Secretary of the Central Committee of Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union Khampha Phimason said that meeting was of great significance as it helped enhance the special ties and solidarity between Laos and Vietnam.


On this occasion, the First Class Independence Order of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam was given to the Central Committee of Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union and the first class Freedom Order of the People’s Democratic Republic of Laos was given to the Central Committee of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. These noble orders of the two countries were in recognition of their achievements in carrying out joint activities for the legitimate interest of the two countries.


Earlier, the Lao youth delegation visited Tan Trao Special National Historical Relic Site and the Lao Revolutionary Historical Relic Site, presented gifts to families who had rendered good services to the Lao Revolution, and inaugurated a computer room with internet access for youths in My Bang commune, Yen Son district, Tuyen Quang province.
