During the 2010-2013 period the northern province of Yen Bai has provided vocational training to over 20,000 rural labourers during the project to train rural labourers until 2020.

Accordingly, 100% of communes have vocational training classes with 39 industry skills being taught.

A majority of rural labourers, after training, have found stable jobs or given free consultancy on employment at job introduction centres or organizations such as the Women’s Union, Farmers’ Association or the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.

Ethnic minorities in particular and those who are living in the two poor districts of Mu Cang Chai and Tram Tau have benefited from the sustainable poverty reduction policies during the 2008-2020 period. The programme has created diverse opportunities for rural labourers to find jobs to increase their income and measurably improve their standard of living.

Yen Bai province will boost the project by continuing to disseminate the Party and State policies on vocational training for rural labourers, developing vocational training plans and applying new vocational training models which are suitable for rural labourers. They include modernising teaching equipment and facilities as well as curriculum development and increasing the quality of teachers and managers.

The project to train rural labourers until 2020 was adopted by the Prime Minister in 2009, with a target to increase investment in vocational training helping them to acquire knowledge, get jobs, increase income, improve standards of living and improve the standard of communal officials to satisfy the demand for rural and agricultural industrialization and modernization.

The project’s goal in the 2011-2015 is to train 5.2 million rural labourers within agricultural and non-agricultural industries, and provide training for 500,000 communal officials.

In the 2016-2020, the project targets to provide vocational training for six million rural labourers, and give specific training to a further 500,000 communal officials capable of leading and managing the socio-economic situation in agricultural and rural industrialization and modernization.

The project is being carried out with a total capital of VND25.98 trillion./.
