(VOV) – Deputy Defence Minister Sen. Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh affirmed the strength of the Vietnam-New Zealand defence ties while receiving NZ Ambassador Haike Manning in Hanoi on July 2.
Vinh said bilateral defence ties have developed strongly, fuelled by a variety of visit and training exchanges, maritime policy agreements, and shared UN peacekeeping experiences.
He noted the two countries have supported each other at multilateral forums like the ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting Plus (ADMM+) and the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF).
He expressed hopes that the ambassador will use his term of office to reinforce the cooperative ties between the two countries and militaries.
Haike spoke highly of National Defence Minister Phung Quang Thanh’s recent New Zealand visit and said that defence agreements negotiated at ADMM+, hosted by Vietnam, opened the door for increased regional cooperation.
He promised to do his utmost to promote the two countries’ mutually beneficial relationship.
