Of the total 27,666 civil servants in Quang Ngai province, 15,210 people are women, accounting for 55 percent and the percentage of women in provincial party and government’s high-level positions are reported to be 20 percent.
The statement was made in recent workshop on women participation in management and leadership.
Workshop participants discussed and came up with many solutions to increase the participation of women in management positions, to make plan of training and recruiting female staffs, and to work out policies for gender development.
Representatives of organizations and localities shared experiences in the implement of gender equity objectives in the period from 2011 to 2015.
According to Vice-Chairman of Quang Ngai provincial people’s committee Le Quang Thich, the policies of Vietnamese Party and Government during the process of national construction and defense have made resolutions to increase the participation of women in leadership positions and management.
Especially, in the current period their roles have been more upgraded and respected that strengthen the goal of the gender equality and also promote potential and ability of women.
A source from the Department of Home Affairs released the improvement in female staff’s qualification has closely concentrated by the provincial party and government. Since 2011, Quang Ngai has sent its 10 thousand women to be trained, and 68 of those are postgraduates.
In the future there will be an increase of training support for female officers in ethnic minorities, the source said.
