7.8 Richter earthquake hits Pakistan

Nearly 300 people were killed and injured when a 7.8 Ritchter earthquake hit southwest Pakistan on Tuesday. The quake occurred in Khuzdar, about 100 km southwest of Balochistans province. According to preliminary reports many houses in the area have been destroyed. Rescue operations are underway to search for victims buried in the collapse. Shocks were felt as far away as the Indian capital New Delhi.
