PANO – Over the past several days, troops helped local people return to their normal lives after their localities were hit by natural disasters.

A flash flood on September 17th caused serious damage to local people’s property and also left 12 missing in Ea Sup district, Dac Lac province.
After being notified of the news, Major General Doan Kieu, Deputy Commander of Military Zone 5 and Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Anh, Deputy Head of Dac Lac Command, arrived to the scene to direct relevant forces to search for the victims.
The forces faced difficulty conducting search and rescue due to heavy rains and the swift current of Ea H’leo River.
At 10:00am on September 19th, they rescued Mrs. Ly Thi Pang and her two daughters from a flooded area and recovered two bodies. The search and rescue mission is still going on.
The Ministry of National Defence and Military Zone 5 also financially assisted families of the dead and missing.
* On September 19th, the Commands of Military Zones 4 and 5 and Steering Boards of Flood Control and Search and Rescue of provinces from Quang Tri to Quang Binh sent their missions to inspect activities helping people overcome consequences caused by the Storm 8.
* On September 18th, trawler HT20296 with 5 fishermen on board ran into trouble 16 nautical miles from Bach Long Vi Island (Hai Phong city). Immediately, the Ha Tinh provincial Border Guard Command and other relevant agencies sent two local ships to conduct search and rescue.
* Ships of the Nam Dinh provincial Border Guard Command and the Marine Police Command carried out search and rescue for trawler TB1548′s troubled fishermen falling into the sea.
* On September 19th, troops from the Vung Ang Border Guard Post brought ashore 8 sailors in distress on freighter Lucky Star of the Hung Nghiep Formosa Group. Previously, the ship was left adrift due to heavy waves and strong winds.
* The same day, hundreds of troops and militia in Quang Tri and Ha Tinh provinces were mobilized to repair houses of local people damaged by a strong whirlwind. Besides, the Thua Thien-Hue Command sent their troops to fix 804m of broken dyke in Phu Loc district and Huong Tra town.
* From September 17th to 19th, heavy rains inundated a wide range of areas in Ogia Dao district, Ratanakiri province, Cambodia. Immediately, the Gia Lai provincial Border Guard Command sent 19 troops to help evacuate Cambodian victims to safe sites.
