Mr Elmar Dutt, Chairman of the German Business Association (GBA), recently stated that 153 member corporations of GBA in Vietnam together with other German institutions are ready to support Vietnam with an advanced sustainable vocational training initiative.

According to Mr Elmar Dutt, this initiative aims to help Vietnam address the challenge of transformation and reform of the current vocational training system to become an industrialized nation with a skilled and highly-skilled labour force by 2020. Accordingly, German companies in Vietnam will bring and deliver the very best of their vocational training expertise and experience for the benefit of the people and the country.

Based on the successful factors and elements of the world-class dual vocational training system of Germany, certain training-periods of students at selected vocational training institutes and universities shall be combined with intensive mid-term practical experience phases between 3, 6 or 12 months in the work process at German companies in Vietnam. This will enable the students to be better prepared with technical skills and soft-skills for a future integration into the skilled labour market.

“With selected universities and vocational training institutions, we want to create “Centres of Excellence” in vocational training by enhancing the standards and curriculum for vocational training with all of our partners together” Mr Elmar Dutt vows.

The initiative is part of the Joint Declaration of Intent on Human Resources Development between Vietnam and Germany.
