The third Conference and Exhibition on ‘European Green Business Solutions for Vietnam’ (Green – Biz 2013) scheduled for September 19 to 20, 2013 in Hanoi will focus on current challenges (such as industrial pollution, environmental pollution, noise pollution and energy saving) as well as how to respond to those challenges. This event is presented by the European Business Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The information above was announced by the organizers at a press conference held recently in Hanoi. With scale promised to be as huge as the Green – Biz 2009 and 2011, Green – Biz 2013 has attracted many research institutions, departments and agencies, civil society groups, international organizations, media and European as well as Vietnamese businesses to get involved in this year’s event. The main topic of the third Green-Biz will focus on current challenges as well as practical solutions. Green – Biz 2013′s agenda includes a conference and an exhibition, introducing the European Green Business Solutions for Vietnam, creating a bridge for relevant Vietnamese and EU businesses, and at the same time acting as a channel for dialogue between business and the government.

The Green – Biz 2013 Conference will discuss main topics including: raising awareness of green lifestyle including green education and green mindset, healthcare and access to healthcare services, cleaner production (eg. the ISO certification and the sustainable business requirements of high quality products in EU – Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiation to guarantee Vietnamese businesses success in domestic market as well as competitiveness in foreign markets); and resource management (water, waste, renewable resources, sustainable and comprehensive urban development).

Not only discussing macro-level issues, the Conference also has sessions addressing diverse topics such as Symbio City – the Swedish brand of sustainable urban development, carbon trade exchange, Poland – Vietnam environmental protection forum, business cooperation opportunities with Czech firms, EU – Vietnam FTA Negotiation, and Triple Helix – Collaboration in waste, energy and water management.

Running in parallel with the Conference, the Green – Biz Expo 2013 will introduce green technology from 70 European companies, including Philips Electronics Vietnam, Schneider Electric Vietnam, Holcim Vietnam and Siemens. The highlight of this year’s exhibition is the participation of exhibitors from Denmark, Poland, Germany, France, Sweden and the Czech Republic.

“With the support from European countries, European embassies in Vietnam and the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade, we believe the Green – biz 2013 will be a great help in introducing the advanced green business technology of Europe to the Vietnamese government and businesses, offering a platform for the government, businesses and researchers to discuss and work out solutions for Vietnam’s sustainable development,” said Mr Preben Hjortlund, President of EuroCham.

Reportedly, 70 European companies have registered to participate in this event.
