PANO – Senior Lieutenant General Le Huu Duc, Deputy Defence Minister, received the visiting General William Fraser, Commander of the US Transportation Command at the Headquarters of the Ministry of National Defence on September 20th.
General Duc welcomed the American general and affirmed that his visit would contribute to strengthening the two armies’ cooperation and stressed that the newly-established comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and the US marked the new development in their bilateral relations, including defence cooperation field.
The Vietnamese Deputy Defence Minister praised results of the two sides’ cooperation reflecting through the annual dialogue on defence policies at the deputy-defence ministerial level, defence consultancies between their Departments of Foreign Relations, Navies and Air Forces.
In the coming time, General Duc hoped that the US would continue sharing experience with Vietnam on search and rescue, overcoming natural disaster aftermath, peace keeping and post-war bomb and mine clearance.
For his part, General William Fraser thanked the Vietnamese general for his reception and pointed out the bilateral cooperation potential in humanitarian assistance and disaster response.
Moreover, experts of the General Department of Logistics of the Vietnam People’s Army and the US Transportation Command will soon meet to work out detailed cooperation programs, contributing to building trust between the two countries.
