(VOV) – Japanese ambassador Tanizaki Yasuaki has bidden farewell to Prime Minster Nguyen Tan Dung before ending his term in Vietnam.
At a September 11 reception for the Japanese diplomat, PM Dung praised his positive contributions to boosting multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Japan over the years.
Both nations share cultural similarities and boast potential and advantages in which they can support each other in the cooperation and development process, Dung noted.
Since the establishment of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic ties 40 years ago, bilateral cooperation has grown steadily across a variety of fields—economics, politics, diplomacy, ODA, education-training, science-technology and culture which have brought practical benefits to the two nations and contributed to ensuring peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region.
PM Dung affirmed Vietnam’s consistent policy of treasuring ties with Japan and consolidating the relationship in a practical and effective manner for mutual benefit.
Vietnam wants to increase economic cooperation with Japan and suggests Japan maintain its higher ODA provision. The country pledges effective use and management of ODA from Japan for the country’s development targets, Dung said.
He also asked both nations to cooperate closely in the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) negotiations and improve cooperation in education-training and national defense and security.
Vietnam is willing to expand agricultural cooperation with Japan and provide it with farm produce that the country needs.
Dung said he hopes that the Japanese ambassador, no matter his future position, will continue to work for Vietnam-Japan friendship.
For his part, Yasuaki expressed his delight at the fine development of relations between the two countries which has strengthened mutual understanding and trust.
Asides economic, trade and investment cooperation, the Japanese diplomat suggested both sides should boost cooperation in agriculture and national defence and security and offer each other support at international and regional forums.
Yasuaki also pledged his continuous efforts to fostering the fine relationship between Vietnam and Japan in the future.
