Banking sector targets VND50 billion for Spratly Archipelago

The State Bank of Vietnam has launched a campaign to encourage the banking system to assist the Spratly Archipelago.

The campaign targets to mobilise VND50 billion from agencies and individuals in the banking system, assisting Spratly soldiers and people to overcome difficulties, while protecting and making the nation’s archipelago stronger.


The money mobilised is expected to be granted to the navy forces command for building cultural constructions as well as essential infrastructure to improve and upgrade constructions across the islands of the archipelago, aiming to better serve the daily lives of soldiers and people on the archipelago.


During the launching ceremony which was held on October 4, some commercial banks committed to assist the campaign, including the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank) with VND12 billion, the Vietnam Joint Stock Bank for Industry and Trade (VietinBank) with VND6 billion, the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) with VND5.5 billion, the Joint stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) with VND5 billion, the Bank for Social Policies with VND3 billion.


The campaign will last until October 15./.
