– President Truong Tan Sang and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will attend a number of important international events from October 7, announced by Foreign Ministry Spokesman Luong Thanh Nghi on Octover 3. Specifically, the President will attend the 21st Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation in Bali, Indonesia from October 7 to 8. On October 9 and 10, the PM will take part in the 23rd ASEAN Summit in Brunei.


– Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan had his meeting with the independent consultant of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Peter Hitchcock in Hanoi on October 3.

– Japanese Kenechi Seto, 65, on October 3, accused that he was beaten by the staffs of a hotels in Pham Ngu Lao Ward, District 1, HCMC. Lieutenant Colonel Huynh Trong Nghia, head of the Pham Ngu lao Ward Police said they are working with the hotel’s owner and staffs and will give Seto the answer when they finish.


– The Ministry of Labour – Invalids and Social Affairs is making a VND210,000 billion scheme to improve the height of Vietnamese children. A recent survey quoted by an official from the Vietnamese Ministry of Health shows that Vietnamese people are shorter than their peers in many Southeast Asian countries.

– Thai Nguyen provincial People’s Committee has recently granted an investment certificate to Samsung Electro-Mechanics Vietnam Limited Company, member of Samsung Corporation, to invest USD1.2 billion for a factory project in the province, increasing the total amount of Samsung’s investment in Thai Nguyen to USD3.2 billion. The project is planned to covers an area of around 30ha in Yen Binh I industrial park in Pho Yen district.


– The International Furniture and Handicraft Exhibition on October 3 kicked off at the Tan Binh Exhibition & Convention Centre. The event, held by HCMC Department of Trade and Industry, gathers around 500 booths and will run until October 6.


Lifestyle:


– Hanoi’s pho, bun thang and bun cha has recently been recognized by the Asian Record Organization for their culinary values. The recognition receiving ceremony is planned to be held at the Tourism Products of Traditional Craft Villages of Hanoi and Red River Delta provinces festival from October 8 to 12 in the capital city.


– Local well-known saxophonist Quyen Thien Dac will give his performances at the show titled ” Jazz suite night” at 8pm on October 4 at Hanoi Opera House.
