PANO – Driven by the death of General Vo Nguyen Giap, the eldest brother of the Vietnam People’s Army, people in Ho Chi Minh City have gone to bookstores to buy books about the General’s life and career, such as “Vo Nguyen Giap: A Hundred Year-Spirit”, “Following General Vo Nguyen Giap’s footsteps”, “General Vo Nguyen Giap, historical periods”, and “Not a legend: First historical novel about Vo Nguyen Giap in Dien Bien Phu Campaign”, to name but a few.
Le Tien Nhat, a student from the Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry said that he and his friends felt sorrow at General Vo Nguyen Giap’s death. He bought books about General Vo Nguyen Giap to learn more about the General’s life and career. He said, “General Giap with noble virtues is a bright example for the young generation to study and follow.”
Vo Thanh Tan, General Director of Thanh Nghia Book Company in Ho Chi Minh City, said that buying books about General Vo Nguyen Giap is one way for southerners to show their love for and respect to the General.
They also bought books about the General as gifts for their relatives and friends.
