From tree roots, loose bits of woods, the skilful hands of Mr. Vo Hung Tien in La Hai town let (Dong Xuan district) have turned into highly economic value fine arts wooden products.

In 1993, after retiring from Dong Xuan agricultural material company, with the long lasting passion for painting, after a long time having close connection with wood, Mr. Hung shared finance with a friend to establish Hong Quang cooperative group. During the first time, the group’s operation was mainly concentrated on sawing wood for other units or individuals. “The wood remaining after sawing is roots and loose bits, just used for fuel wood or become useless. I did realize such wastefulness, desiring to turn them into valuable things. Learning, self-taught painting, carving, I could make the very first wooden fine art products, which were flower vases”, Mr. Vo Hung Tien let known.
With the encouragement of the provincial cooperative federation and the agricultural extension center (the department of industry and trade), Hong Quang cooperative unit has absolutely turned into making wooden fine arts products. From 2005, fine arts flower vases made by Mr. Vo Hung Tien have been issued intellectual patent (the ministry of science-technology) on exclusive rights on industrial shaped fine arts vases.
Not only that, Mr. Tien nonstop learns, introducing lots of more artistic products, with higher values, all from wood. So far, the products including furniture, couches….have been issued the certificates on industrial shaped and purchased on the market with the exclusive products brand names.
So as to have products to decorate with highly using features, Mr. Tien used the flat drills to create lots of various round holes. In detail, on the hand drills, the 16mm flat drill holes are used, but the flower vases have the hollow dimension from 16mm to 40mm. Thanks to this, customers can be freely creative with various ways of arranging flowers. This is the solution “Mechanism invention, turning lathes and drill holes in combination” by Mr. Vo Hung Tien, a solution bringing about the consolidation prize at the 4th Phu Yen Contest of technical creativity”.
Chairman of Phu Yen provincial cooperative federation, Mr. Le Luan assessed: Mr. Vo Hung Tien is at the leading role among the province’s outstanding fine arts craftsmen. With his intellect, talent, devotion, Mr. Tien has contributed to reviving one traditional product; sorting out the compatible development orientation for Hong Quang cooperative unit.
