The Vietnam-Republic of Korea (RoK) relationship deserves to be an exemplary model, Oh Jae-hack, RoK Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, has said.
Addressing a ceremony in HCM City on October 4 to celebrate the 4,345th anniversary of the RoK’s National Foundation Day, Oh Jae-hack hailed Korean President Park Geun-hye’s recent visit to Vietnam, saying that it is a manifestation of her strong will to broaden growing bilateral ties with the country.
Chairman of the HCM City chapter of Vietnam-RoK Friendship Association Vu Van Hoa said the two nations still boast huge potential of cooperation amid the current global economic integration.
According to Hoa, ties between HCM City and RoK partners have extended beyond trade and investment to move further into cultural and people-to-people exchange.
Furthermore, the Vietnam-RoK cooperation has been fuelled by their leaders’ strong political determination since they lifted their ties to strategic cooperative partnership in 2009, he said.
Over the past 20 years, the two nations have set up partnership in various fields, from politics, economics to culture. Last year, two-way trade reached a record turnover of 21.7 billion USD, up from the previous year’s figure of 18.6 billion USD.
The Korean investment in Vietnam has so far amounted to 25.7 billion USD.
