PANO – Some newly-proposed projects will be carried out in the coming time, with hopes to bring more prosperous features for the joint projects of ANMC21 (Asian Network of Major Cities 21), as concluded at the closing ceremony of the 12th plenary meeting of the ANMC21 on November 19th.

Accordingly, in the project “Building the foundation for technology and industry”, member cities will organize meetings for experts, cooperation and economic exchanges such as participating in commercial fairs regarding the Tokyo Common Statement 2010 on environmental and energy saving.
ANMC21 will start the project “City solution of education” to share cooperative information between local authorities and universities of member cities. This project is in the framework of the newly-set “Pilot Program” which aims to timely deal with common issues and specific issues of each member city, and create conditions for implementing cooperative policies.
Notably, the seminar, themed “Asian investment, trade and tourism promotion” saw the signing ceremony of 7 cooperation agreements, a good beginning for trade, investment and tourism cooperation in the future among ANMC21.
On the occasion, Hanoi City and Tokyo signed a Memorandum of Understanding on further strengthening cooperation in fields of mutual concern.
Regarding two big contents of the meeting, “Urban planning” and “Urban energy policy in Asia”, participants agreed to continue strengthening cooperation, sharing experience in managing the planning in particular and boosting socio-economic development in general in order to deal with current issues and ensure sustainable development. Besides, they also agreed to deal with issues, including the development of human resources for managing high-quality energy, technology and equipment markets, high efficiency products and high volume public transport, towards the objective of sustainable city development and building the low carbon economy.
At the closing ceremony, the heads of 8 member cities of ANMC21, including Bangkok, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, Singapore, Tokyo, Tomsk region and the host city Hanoi, signed the Hanoi Declaration.
Tomsk region will host the 13th plenary meeting of ANMC21 in 2014.
