PANO – Two militiamen Le Van Hieu and Nguyen Trong Hung from Vat Lai commune, Ba Vi district, Hanoi, have caught a pickpocket at noon on December 5th.
While on their way to home, Hieu and Hung heard somebody shouting for help and saw a girl behind a young man on a motorbike trying to snatch something from a woman.
Thinking that the couple might be robbers, the militiamen immediately rushed to the scene and arrested the girl while the man ran away.
They turned the girl over to the police.
The robber, 23-year-old Han Thi Thuy Linh, is a native of Van Luong commune, Tam Nong district, Phu Tho province. She stole VND 400,000 and a Samsung cell phone from Ms. Chu Thi Vinh in Thuy An commune, Ba Vi district.
The police also found 30 pink pills that might be drugs from Linh.
Linh, with two criminal records, was released from custody in July 2013. In addition, she and 4-5 young others, set up a gang to rob people’s property in some communes from Son Tay town (Ba Vi district) to Tam Nong district (Phu Tho).
Until the evening of December 5th, the Ba Vi district police arrested two more suspects of the gang for further investigation.
The Vat Lai commune People’s Committee suggested the Ba Vi district People’s Committee to present merit certificates to the two brave militiamen.
Over the past time, Hieu and Hung have always fulfilled their assigned missions.
