Party leader hails positive growth in VN-China ties

HA NOI (VNS) — The General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, Nguyen Phu Trong, yesterday said relations between Viet Nam and China had seen positive developments.


Trong made the statement while receiving Wang Jiarui, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee. in Ha Noi.


Wang is on an official visit to Viet Nam that began on December 18 and will run until the 22nd.


On the occasion, the Vietnamese Party leader stressed the significance of the relationship between the two parties, saying that it played a critical role in the two countries’ strategic co-operative partnership. Trong also said the Vice Chairman’s visit was a significant step in realising the partnership.


Recent visits between the leaders of both countries had also increased common understandings and created important policy considerations in the development of the two parties, Trong said.


In a bid to emphasise the significance of party building, the host also urged the two entities to expand co-operation in staff training and knowledge sharing.


Wang Jiarui, who is also head of the CPC representatives to Viet Nam on this visit, informed the host of the outcomes of the visit and major developments in China.


Wang appreciated co-operation efforts between the two countries, emphasising that the Chinese government and its people attached great importance to their relationship with Viet Nam.


Wang said China was enthusiastic about implementing existing bilateral agreements and deepening the comprehensive strategic co-operation partnership.


Wang also conveyed a formal invitation from Chinese President Xi Jinping to General Secretary Trong to visit China.


Earlier the same day, President of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan hosted a reception for the Chinese dignitary.


Wang also met with Hoang Binh Quan, member of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee and head of its Commission for External Relations. — VNS
