(VEN) – The National Great Solidarity – Vietnamese Cultural Heritage Week took place at the Vietnamese Ethnic Culture-Tourism Village in Dong Mo Commune, Son Tay Town, Hanoi, featuring many unique cultural activities imbued with the breath of specific regions of ethnic minorities.
This event contributed to honor the unity of bloc of Vietnamese people from different ethnicities, a national precious heritage built over thousands of years.
This year, the week recorded 17 ethnic communities in the country participating in many of the festival activities such as Ok Om Bok, Southern Floating Market, Northern Upland Market, and New Home Celebration.
Many unique festivals of ethnic peoples have been reproduced and introduced for the first time including the Highlands Sculpture Camp where visitors could witness the dexterity of ethnic artisans on 180 sculptured objects of culture, art, life and beliefs on the exhibition. Visitors could also experience trade the floating market on the Mekong river or taste specialties at a nearby uplands market.
In addition, visitors might be interested in a lot of brocade products woven by women of Mong and Thai ethnic groups; excited by martial atmosphere during the cow racing festival unique in An Giang Province; and calmed down when visiting the Khmer’s temple complex.
In evaluation of the National Great Solidarity – Vietnamese Cultural Heritage Week, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho Anh Tuan said “The event has met the expectations of the organizers and ethnic peoples as it helped recreate the unique ethnic cultural characteristics. The event took place at the Vietnamese Ethnic Culture-Tourism Village and offered visitors the opportunities to engage directly with experienced artisans and people of 54 Vietnamese ethnic groups.”/.
