Seriously injured fisherman receives first aid

PANO – A fisherman injured in an accident while working on board trawler QNg-92046 was taken to Phu Lam Island of Hoang Sa (Paracel) Archipelago and given first aid by the China Maritime Search and Rescue Centre at dawn on December 2nd, according to Vietnam’s Office of the National Committee for Search and Rescue (SAR).

At 8am on December 1st, the fisherman was in a coma and lost blood due to a serious injury to his neck. The trawler QNg-92046′s captain sent a mayday signal. The trawler was around 96 nautical miles off Phu Lam Island.


Upon receiving the news, the Vietnamese Office asked for support from China. It also asked the Vietnam SAR Centre to give health consultancy and the China Maritime SAR Centre to give assistance. Besides, the Quang Ngai Provincial SAR, Flood Control Steering Committee and Border Guard Command were asked to instruct their affiliated units to coordinate rescue efforts.


Chinese relevant organs agreed to receive and give emergency aid to the troubled Vietnamese fisherman.
