(VOVworld)- The Thai government imposed martial law for 7 hours from 10pm Sunday until 5am Monday morning in Bangkok and adjacent areas to calm escalating tension. Deputy Prime Minister Pracha Prommok announced that the martial law was imposed for everyone’s safety as major anti-government gear up. Many fear more violence will occur in Bangkok on Monday when police disperse protesters occupying government offices. The leader of anti-government protests, Suthep Thaugsuban, called on officials to join the protests on Monday. At least 4 people were killed and 68 others wounded in violence over the weekend.
