HA NOI (VNS)— The General Department of Water Resources under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development met with Da Nang and Quang Nam leaders yesterday to discuss urgent solutions to address the current drought. Representatives of Vietnam Electricity Group and the power plant in the central province of Quang Nam also took part in the meeting.
Two hydropower plants, Dak Mi No.4 and A Vuong, will ensure water flow discharge during summer and autumn. Based on current water sources, the two localities will actively adjust the structure of plants to help short-term priority crops survive. Da Nang City will continue to operate An Trach Pump Station as a temporary water source.
Last year, rainfall in this area was only 50 per cent of the annual average, leading to the current drought as the reservoirs lack about 12 billion cubic metres of water. — VNS
