VGP – Export revenue of agro-aquatic-forestry products in January was estimated at US$ 2.32 billion, representing a year-on-year decline of 9.7%, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
Exports of farm produce declined by 17.9% against the same period last year to US$ 1.17 billion, forestry produce registered a 3.3% increase to US$ 534 million, and aquatic export valued US$ 552 million, up 13.9%.
Some exports saw decreasing export turnover such as coffee, rubber, tea, pepper, and cassava.
Rubber exports experienced the steepest reduction of 32.8% and valued US$ 199 million.
China took the lead in importing rice from Viet Nam, accounting for 31.1% of the country’s total rice export. Meanwhile, traditional markets including Malaysia and the Philippines saw falls in both volume and value.
In the first month, the export of aquatic products was US$ 552 million, up 13.9% against last year.
The MARD has instructed relevant sectors to boost exports through improving quality and added value; ensuring supply for the domestic market, particularly in the upcoming Tet holiday when demands for food and foodstuff increase./.
