On January 15, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thien, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, held a reception for Ms. Rena Bitter, the newly arrived US Consul General. Attending the reception was Mr. Phan Ngoc Tho, Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee.
Secretary Thien was glad to receive Ms. Rena Bitter and highly appreciated new development in US-Vietnam relations. He made a brief introduction about the provincial potentials and perspectives, especially emphasized that Thua Thien Hue was one of the big and special centers of culture, tourism, science – technology, intensive medical, high-quality interdisciplinary education and training. Thua Thien Hue is oriented to be a centrally governed city following the policy of the Politburo and the Government. In the past years, the relations between US Consul General in HCMC and Thua Thien Hue as well as the relations between US partners and Thua Thien Hue was well developed. He believed that the newly arrived US Consul General would further boost the bilateral relation between Vietnam and US in general and between Thua Thien Hue and US localities in particular. He kindly requested the US Consulate General in HCMC to support Thua Thien Hue in the fields of heritage conservation, health, education – training, disaster control, etc.; especially to introduce US enterprises to do investment in the province.
In response, Ms. Rena Bitter told that the US considered Vietnam as one of the prioritized country in their foreign policies, particularly bilateral foreign policies. High-level visits between leaders of the two countries in recent years have deepened comprehensive cooperation between the two countries. Ms. Rena Bitter highly appreciated Thua Thien Hue potentials, especially its tourism – services with a beautiful system of heritages and landscape. She emphasized that in the coming time, the US would enhance the cooperation with Vietnam in such fields as trade, culture, health, and education. Accordingly, the US Consulate General in HCMC will build suitable policies and suggest US enterprise to invest in ThuaThienHueProvince.
