While receiving Vietnamese Ambassador to Mexico Le Thanh Tung, Chairman of the Mexican Senate’s Foreign Affairs Committee for Asia Pacific, Senator Teofilo Torres Corzo said the committee is keen to strengthen comprehensive relations with Vietnam and other countries in the region.
The chairman made the statement at a recent reception for Tung, during which he also said Mexico wishes to enhance political dialogues and friendship with Vietnam in order to further boost trade cooperation, cultural exchange and scientific research between the two nations.
Senator Teofilo Torres Corzo told the ambassador that the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF), which has recently been held in the western Mexico state of Jalisco, achieved important outcomes in promoting cooperation in fighting terrorism and drug, ensuring food and energy security, boosting green development, and alleviating poverty.
The forum also mentioned new challenges facing regional countries, and discussed measures to deal with them effectively, he said.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Tung said Vietnam and Mexico should boost the sharing of experience in trade, scientific research and cultural exchange for the sake of the development of both countries.
