(CPV) - Striker Le Cong Vinh has been appointed captain of the national squad, while Thanh Luong and Minh Chau are vice-captains, said head coach Hoang Van Phuc after ending the private meeting in the evening of February 27.

The three experienced players were members of the national squad in the journey of Vietnam’s champion team in AFF Cup 2008 with the Portuguese head coach Henrique Calisto.

Le Cong Vinh’s first role as captain was in the match against Olympiakos in May, 2009.

For Nghe An province-original player, it is a great honour as Hoang Van Phuc planned to gather athletes who have showed best performances in V-League. However, after 7 rounds of competition, the 29-year-old striker scored only one time in the Song Lam Nghe An-Quang Nam match of the 2nd round, with 6-1.

The squad is now at the Hanoi-based Youth Training Centre, in preparation for the forthcoming match with Korean student team. Tickets for this game are being sold from February 28 to March 2, for VND50,000 and VND100,000.

Later on, the national squad will face Hong Kong – China squad on March 5 in Hanoi’s My Dinh national stadium in the last match of E group of Asian Cup 2015 qualifying round. The game is expected to start at 9pm, tickets are available for VND50,000, VND80,000, and VND120,000./.
