PANO – An artistic program to open Bac Ninh Festival 2014 and the 7th provincial sports congress was organized in the province on March 15 in the presence of National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam.
Under the theme, “Magnanimity of Kinh Bac – Bac Ninh”, the program reflected the combat tradition, magnanimity as well as patriotism of Bac Ninh troops and people in Ho Chi Minh era and the integration and development process of the province.
At the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam also handed over certificates recognizing Dau and But Thap Pagodas in Thuan Thanh district, Bac Ninh province as special national relics.
Earlier, various cultural and sports activities took place in the province to welcome the 6-day festival.
* The same day, Vinh Phuc province officially opened Tay Thien Festival 2014 to commemorate Mother Lang Thi Tieu who helped the Hung king defeat invaders and taught the people how to grow rice.
Apart from traditional rituals, there will be dances, cheo (traditional operate) performance, “chung” and “giay” (Vietnamese traditional glutinous rice cakes) making contests, rice-cooking contest and tug of war competition.
