Nhan Dan Online – The Hong Kong-based Esquel Group, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of premium cotton shirts, opened a new garment factory on March 19 in the Luong Son Industrial Park, Hoa Binh province.

Construction on the factory, which cost an estimated US$25 million, began in July of last year. It is expected to generate jobs for around 2,800 people living in the province and surrounding areas.

The factory in Hoa Binh is the third built in Vietnam by the Esquel Group, following two previous projects in Binh Duong and Dong Nai provinces.

It is also the first factory in Vietnam to be built under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standard and the lean manufacturing model.

Speaking at the launch, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai hailed Esquel Group’s positive contributions to the international economic integration of Vietnam in the garment and textile industry.

He asked Hoa Binh provincial authorities to create favourable condition for the factory’s operation to facilitate the production of high-quality products and further the integration of Vietnam’s garment industry.
