The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the city Public Health Association will work together to provide a free medical check-up and medicine to 10,000 children to respond to International Children’s Day (June 1st). This year, the event will be held on May 31st and June 1st at 23/9 park for the second time.
According to Dr. Le Truong Giang, President of the city Public Health Association, the program aims to expand healthcare knowledge and practice and thereby to protect and improve children’s health.
Under the program, children will be given vitamin A, and free medical check-ups. Medicine will be administered if required. Parents will be given advice on how to prevent obesity and malnutrition among children; on how to prevent frequently contracted diseases; on how to give first-aid to children; and on how to deal with accidents and injuries among children.
In particular, parents will learn how to recognise and care for child patients of common summer diseases, such as hand-foot-mouth disease, measles and petechial fever.
During the event, children will have a chance to watch healthcare protection films, join folk games and receive presents./.
