The special dishes of the southern region are being introduced to visitors from both home and abroad at a four-day cuisine festival that opened in Ho Chi Minh City on May 29.
The festival is featuring cooking demonstrations that showcase Vietnamese delicacies from across the southern region. Businesses, restaurants and hotels have provided 100 booths offering freshly-made food for visitors to sample.
Jointly held by the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the HCM City Tourism Association, the annual event aims to introduce the unique cuisine culture of the Vietnamese people, especially those living in the south, to local and international tourists.
Guests will also have a chance to enjoy ‘Don ca tai tu’ (southern folk music) and Central Highlands gong performances, both of which are examples of world intangible heritage recognised by UNESCO.-VNA
