On the evening of May 10th, at the Municipal Theater Square, the 3rd Red Flamboyant Festival-Haiphong 2014 and the receiving ceremonyof certificate of special national relic for Cat Ba landscape were taking place in the jubilant atmosphere of the historic May days.
With the theme “Cat Ba in the red color of Flamboyant flowers”, the gala occurred grandly and elaborately, including four chapters with the titles: “Pink Phoenix“; “The Red Flamboyant paths”; “Cat Ba – Pearl Island ” and “The Immense land of sea entry” performed by famous singers and nearly 500 public actors to highlight the image of symbolized flower of Hai Phong, Cat Ba Island and the port city of Hai Phong .
Speaking at the night gala, Chairman of Haiphong People’s Committee Duong Anh Dien – Head of Festival Organizing Board stressed thatafter the 2 consecutively successful seasons, the festival has been gradually built upto become a recognized festival of Hai Phong through the iconic symbol of Red Flamboyantwith the aim of honoring andpraising the land and people of Hai Phong. Following the leadership of the Party and promoting the strength of national unity, international cooperation, the city has gained numerousachievements in the renewal cause, which serve as an impetus to generate excitement, energy, will and confidence to overcome difficulties, fulfill set targets and successfully implement the Resolution of the 11th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Resolution of the 14thCongress of Haiphong Party Committee and Conclusion No. 72 of the Politburo on continuously fostering implementation of Resolution No.32 of the Politburo on constructing and developing Hai Phong city in the period of national industrialization and modernization.
The 3rd Red Flamboyant Festival was organized concurrently with the event of receiving certificate of special national relic for Cat Ba landscape. This is a location in the country which fully converges outstanding ecological and natural values, cultural and historic values and beautiful nature. At the same time, Cat Ba Archipelago is on the way to be built into a green tourism destination, an international-ranking tourism center which matches the position, potentials and the highlighting values of Cat Ba Island.
This year, in the framework of the Red Flamboyant Festival, the city held many prominent eventsalong the central park area. These include the festive drum performance, the brass, water puppet shows, parades of motors and bikes around the downtown strip, a culinary and trade fair with over 100 booths introducing unique products from food to tours, antique motorbikes festival, flute kite and Cat Ba’s photos exhibitions at Nguyen Du Park.
