A Government plan envisages Viet Nam having around 40 quality vocational schools that can match the standards of advanced countries by 2020.
Each will have the capacity to train at least 2,000 students every year of whom at least 80 per cent can find jobs matching their skills.

Youths volunteer to assist hospital patients
The Youth Social Work Centre of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union’s HCM City Committee, in co-operation with the city health and transport departments, on Tuesday launched a two-year programme under which volunteers offer help to patients at hospitals.
Around 600 youths will assist patients and their family members with completing hospital registration procedures, provide them with free bus tickets, and offer guidance at Cho Ray, Oncology, Hematology and Blood Transfusion, Nhan Dan 115 and Nhan Dan Gia Dinh hospitals.

Train fares to be cut by 12 per cent
The fare on north – south trains will reduce by 12 per cent from September 4, according to the Viet Nam Railway Corporation.
Passengers who buy tickets two months in advance will get a discount of 50 per cent but they cannot cancel them.

Number of encephalitis cases down this year
So far this year there have been 240 cases of encephalitis, including Japanese encephalitis, and four people have died, the Preventive Health Department said on Tuesday.
The number of cases and deaths are both down from last year. Hot weather is one of the enabling conditions for the outbreak and spread of encephalitis and meningitis viruses, doctors said.
