Only 4 projects invested by domestic investors have been licensed so far the year with the total registered capital of 118 billion VND, a source from the Provincial People’s Committee said.

The number of registered projects and investment capital dramatically declined compared with that in the same period in 2013.

The newly-licensed projects in the first six months of the year bring the total projects in the province up to 283 with an investment of 110.3 trillion VND.

The province has seen a slow movement of FDI project when the source released that no new project has been recorded so far the year.

However, it is expected to lure one new FDI project in the upcoming time. It will be the thread processing plant invested by New-Manson Goup (Hong Kong) at the total of 15 million USD to be licensed in Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park.

Reportedly, Quang Ngai province has so far lured 28 FDI projects worth over 4 billion USD.

During the six-month period, the total implemented capital of FDI projects has increased from 16.18 million USD in 2013 to 22 million USD in 2014 that is calculated to reach 35% of plan set forth for the year.

In 2014, the disbursed capital of FDI projects is planned to be 63 million USD, which mostly come from projects in Dung Quat Economic Zone (DQEZ).

DQEZ, where is home to as many as large-scale heavy industrial projects, is planned that to 2015 it will attract 10-15 projects and will lure 40-50 others by 2020.

Those projects will increase the number of licensed projects in the zone up to 150 and the total investment capital will climb up to 14-15 billion USD.
