The information was released by Nguyen Duc Hien, head of the NA’s Ombudsman Committee, at the ongoing seventh session in Hanoi on June 10. He discussed a report on the response to feedback offered by the public during the previous session.

The report acknowledged efforts made the Government and agencies in managing and implementing socio-economic development, including the issues raised by voters. Difficulties were solved in production problems, obstacles in fishermen’s livelihoods, rice consumption, food hygiene, resettlement, forestry, school fees, corruption, and the settlement of civil disputes.

Hien affirmed the quality of handling comments has been improved, meeting the approval of the majority of complainants.

He also praised agencies, including the ministries of transport and agriculture and rural development and the State Bank of Vietnam for the prompt settlement and reply to complaints sent to them.

However, he said, some ministries and agencies responded slowly and avoided giving direct answers, affecting the quality of the work.

The NA Standing Committee proposed the Government and concerned agencies pay more attention to the work and continue listening to the will of the people.

They said more should be done for fishermen, including improving fishing logistics services, ship shelters and disaster research and rescue procedures. Development infrastructure in coastal and island areas should also be developed in order to improve fishermen’s spiritual and material lives, lawmakers added.

The Government and its agencies need to offer solutions to common complaints regarding the use of agricultural and forestry land, the settlement of overdue legal cases, and the lack of meetings with voters, Hien said.

The official stressed that the NA Standing Committee highly values the practical work by voters and people nationwide and overseas Vietnamese that contribute to protecting the country’s sea and island sovereignty. He said that they are all united in demanding China withdraw its oil rig, illegally placed in the Vietnamese continental and exclusive economic zone, and ships from Vietnam’s waters
