(CPV) - On June 6, the Embassy of Sweden organised a ceremony to celebrate the National Day of the Kingdom of Sweden in Hanoi.
The celebration ceremony was attended by Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Swedish Ambassdor to Vietnam, Camilla Mellander said that 2014 is a meaningful year marking the 45th anniversary of diplomatic establishment between Vietnam and Sweden. The diplomatic relation is very special and unique. Over the past 30 years, Sweden is an important partner of Vietnam and supported millions of Vietnamese people to escape from poverty. Sweden travelled with Vietnam to help the country to strive to become a middle-income country as nowadays. Currently, Vietnam achieved significant results in the fields of health, infrastructure, energy and education.
Minister Hoang Tuan Anh congratulated the significant and proud achievements of Sweden over the past time. He affirmed that Sweden is one of the leading industrial countries in Europe, a pioneer in poverty reduction and environmental protection, aiming to build a peaceful, prosperous, green and clean world for the future.
He emphasized that 2014 marked a meaningful year of the diplomatic establishment between the two countries. He aslo agreed with the Swedish Ambassador that Vietnam and Sweden share the unique relationship because when Vietnam was in the most difficult period, Sweden was the first Western country to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam. Sweden has also been a loyal friend with Vietnam in the past and in the course of national reform today.
“The success of the visit to Sweden by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh last April demonstrated the determination and desire of the two Governments to cultivate, promote and strengthen the Vietnam – Sweden relations for the benefits and prosperity of the two peoples. The increase in the visits of top Swedish enterprises to Vietnam recently also opened up new hope for the cooperation landscape of our two countries in the areas of economics, trade and investment,” he stressed./.
